The Uniting of Heart and Hand-As an artist, the essence of what I strive for is to convey what I feel in my heart and spirit and show it to you via my hands and how they interpret that information. RS Weinblatt is an American Impressionist painter who studied FINE ART at a well known NY University and went on to receive his MASTERS DEGREE at the Art Institute of Chicago! Art has always been a form of silent expression for me and my emotion on a particular subject comes through most clearly when I am painting! The medium of pastel was something I've evolved towards as my vision of the world changed! Pastel allows me the immediacy as well as the depth and luminosity I strive for in my work! I consider myself a colorist in that I use that particular tool to convey a sense of romance in my work! Color to me is visual music and when I sense a particular vibration amongst my palette I hear a silent melody that allows my spirit to sing! That is how I decide upon and formulate my paintings to say what I feel.

The Pastel Society of New Mexico was founded in 1989 by a small group of New Mexican artists who wanted to share the wonderful world of pastels with others.

Monthly meetings are held from 10 am - 12 noon in the auditorium of the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History, which is located at the southwest corner of Mountain Road and 19th Street NW. They are free and open to the public, so if you are interested in learning more about pastel and PSNM, you are invited to attend as a guest.

Founded in 1972 by Flora B. Giffuni, The Pastel Society of America (PSA) - the oldest pastel society in America - is largely responsible for the current renaissance of pastels in American art. The society's annual exhibitions at The National Arts Club in New York are the premier event for pastel artists in this country and abroad. PSA encourages artistic advancement through prestigious awards distributed during its annual exhibitions.  Pastelists showing technical acumen and creative use of pastel techniques are awarded prizes for their achievements.  Members winning three cumulative awards are named PSA Master Pastelists.  Each year one noted artist is elected into PSA's Hall of Fame.

In recent years, PSA has been honored guests in exhibitions in Italy, France, Russia and China.

IAPS is International Assoc of Pastel Societies

The International Association of Pastel Societies (IAPS) was founded in 1994 as a non-profit organization representing pastel societies worldwide uniting in the common cause to demonstrate the validity and quality of pastel fine art. This coming together of pastel societies provides a strong voice for pastel artists and the luminous medium of pastel. The foundation of IAPS is based on networking and sharing. Individual artists benefit and expand their knowledge through the IAPS Member Society of their choice.
